Paul Andreu – How .Archi Domain Names Connect Architects

Godefroy Jordan, co-founder of Starting Dot, met with architect super star Paul Andreu to talk about the .archi domain. Paul Andreu is one of the founding .archi users with and is considered to be one of the greatest architects in the past 50 years.

He is best known for having planned numerous airports worldwide, notably Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Jakarta), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (China), Dubai International Airport, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Other projects include the Grande Arche at La Défense in Paris (as associate of Johann Otto von Spreckelsen) and the National Grand Theater of China in Beijing. Since 2011 Andreu teaches three months per year at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.

In the video Paul Andreu discusses the benefits that .archi brings to architecture, most of all its sense of community,“There’s an instant kinship, a camaraderie almost”. For Andreu, .archi has acted as an instant identifier allowing him to instantly recognize fellow architects and colleagues.

As .archi is a secure, controlled and industry-specfic domain space, it has become a trusted source when searching for information online related to architecture. Those who qualify to obtain the domain, wear it as a badge of honor. Andreu states that ‘the dot archi address is like a pin on a lapel’.
